Also known as relaxation massage, promotes deep relaxation of mind and body, full body health maintenance and detoxification through the movement of blood and lymphatic fluid. This modality directly affects the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems, and is primarily used for decreasing tension, overall stress relief, improving circulation and enhancing the functionality of the immune system.
Is extremely effective in treating postural dysfunction. Postural issues are caused by repetitive motion mostly caused by work activities, such as working at a computer that affects the neck and shoulder region. It is also used by athletes on a regular basis to help maintain their bodies as they put them under daily stress. It decreases the chances of injury and reduces recovery time between workouts. It is normal to feel some soreness the day after a deep tissue session. This type of massage requires extensive knowledge of anatomy and pathology..
Trigger points are highly irritated bands of tissue located in or along a muscle. The small point of irritation can cause tightness throughout the entire muscle and referred pain throughout the entire body. The symptoms of trigger points can vary from local discomfort in the muscle, to headaches, numbness, tingling, and restricted mobility. Sometimes trigger points can even mimic or be one of the causes of repetitive stress injuries. The trigger point technique can be extremely effective at relieving these symptoms.
Is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. The theory of Myofascial Release requires an understanding of the fascial system (or connective tissue). The fascia is a specialized structural system of the body that is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs.
The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one structure that exists from head to foot without interruption. In this way you can observe how important the fascial system is, interconnecting each part of the entire body.
Sports Massage is a specialized form of massage therapy that focuses on addressing the specific needs of athletes and active individuals. It involves the use of various massage techniques to help prepare the body for physical activity, aid in recovery after exercise, prevent and treat injuries, and enhance overall performance. Sports massage therapists typically have advanced training in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology, as well as specific techniques for treating various sports-related injuries and conditions. They work closely with athletes and trainers to develop individualized treatment plans that address each athlete’s unique needs and goals.
With the use of plastic cups and an air pump, myofascial cupping produces suction to decompress underlying tissue. The therapist applies the cup to the surface of the skin to create negative pressure similar to a vacuum, drawing underlying tissue into the cup. After that, the therapist massages the cup along the skin to create a therapeutic effect/response.
Benefits:
* The suction breaks up excessive scar tissue, adhesions and collagen fibers.
* Affects the receptors in the tissue that relaxes and resets the fascia and muscles.
* Increases Range of Motion in areas that are adhered and restricted from postural dysfunction, repetitive overuse injuries, and chronic sport injuries.
* Helps maintain RoM for athletes and helps to decrease inflammation and speed up the repair of tissue.
* Increases local circulation in the superficial skin layers and the underlying fascia and tissue.
* Relaxes and warms the superficial skin and fasciae to facilitate reaching the deeper layers of muscles.
